Clerk's Website missing Elections Results
Want to know elections totals online for last year's General Election? Once again, don't ask Beth White.
Marion County Clerk White, whom we have already noted having difficulty maintaining accurate lists of elected officials and elections inspectors, seems to also have difficulty putting another important list online: Marion County Elections Results.
A Polis Politics review of White's website found that of the past ten years of results, half of those years worth of elections statistics are absent from public view, and the most recent election results are not even on White's portion of the IndyGov website.
This is not to say White provides Marion County citizens one-stop shopping either. Elections results are found in three separate areas of her website: a list of Certified Winners, an Elections Results Summary Application, and a list of Past Elections results. None of these three are consistent in the data they provide the Public.
The list of Certified Winners gives the names of those elected in the 2003, 2004, and 2006 elections, as well as the 2007 primary. The Election Results Summary Application provides statistics for the Primary and General Elections in 1998, 1999, and 2000. The list of Past Election Results provides vote totals for the Primary and General Elections in 2003 and 2004. Missing from public view are vote totals for elections just held last year (2006), as well as 2005, 2002, and 2001.
In addition, while 2007 Primary totals are available online, they are not available on White's website. Instead, they are found on the IndyGov homepage, right next to the link to the Indianapolis Colts homepage (the link is either another attempt by Bart Peterson to take credit for the Colts' Super Bowl Victory or a vain attempt to put down our beloved Pacers). Needless to say, we are puzzled as to why the information is available on IndyGov, but not White's website.
So out of ten years of results, White lacks five years of data. While we are saddened that we are not surprised at yet another area where White has failed to provide information related to her job, we will continue to keep an eye on the Clerk's website to make sure the Public can get the information it deserves.
When a new elected official takes office, there is not a "let's design a whole new website" number one priority. For all the years mentioned, a Republican Clerk (for 2001, 2002, Sara Evans; for 2005, 2006, Doris Ann Sadler) was in the office. I'm sure once the results are moved from the IndyGov portal, they will appear on the clerks portion.
I thought this blog was going to have promise, but your grasping at straws to bash White's website.

Beth "Incompetent" White promised the world and she fell woefully short. She should be careful what she asks for next time...

The 2001 and 2002 results have NEVER been available online. This isn't a Beth White problem, it's a left-over problem...

Didn't White run on a campaign to improve the office? Trust me, it aint that hard to put results up. If the past clerk was incompetent, White is continuing the tradition of incompetence.
